My name is Tiffany Anwell. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Certified Birth Doula.
I graduated with Honors from Greenville Technical College after 630 contact hours in Massage Therapy. I received my Doula training and certification from Childbirth International, as well as trainings from DONA, Stillbirthday, and Spinning Babies. I am constantly engaged in Continuing Education, and have exciting plans for future endeavors! I am currently a Professional Member of, and insured by, ABMP.
I have had a passion for helping people from a very young age and I have always been drawn to more holistic methods of healing. Starting with Doula work more than 16 years ago, being present has always been important to me. It began as a way to help women and families and morphed into realizing a lifelong dream. I started thinking about Massage Therapy as a complementary modality to Doula work without realizing just how important it is on its own. I enjoy learning new things and I also love sharing knowledge. You'll find me getting excited about all aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, pregnancy/birth education, massage, healing touch, how our bodies work, energy work, and many other aspects of holistic health.
Like most people, I have overcome many obstacles in my life to get where I am today. I frequently reflect on this and will always graciously meet people where they are in their own personal journey.
I believe that touch is very meaningful, from our first breath until our last, touch shapes the way we think and feel. It's one of our very first first methods of communication.
After only a brief time touching, oxytocin is released. Oxytocin is sometimes called the "love hormone". It can promote shorter and less painful labors. It is able to reduce and relieve pain, anxiety, stress, and depression. It can promote healing and restful sleep. Touching your children promotes communication and bonding. It can be a comfort and defeat loneliness. It encourages connection. For people who have experienced negative touching and abuse, massage can be a healing introduction to safe touch.
Currently, I am married to the love of my life and we have six amazing children. I have always been an unschooling mom and have graduated my two oldest children! My youngest baby just turned 1 and was a homebirth. I have the most supportive family and I like to believe, besides the obvious chaos of large families, we have a lot of fun together.
Some of my hobbies include being the best Tetris player, and I rock Freecell, as well! I like to read and sing (mostly Disney soundtracks). I am introverted and can often be found in deep thought about something. I enjoy meaningful and philosophical conversations but I am not great at small talk. I am great at the occasional rambling and I am comfortable in silence. I am trying to get the hang of gardening and learning about homesteading. I love being outdoors, hiking and kayaking. The mountains and waterfalls are my happy place. Indoor rock climbing. And naps- not that we're well acquainted anymore, but one day we will again!
